Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this rug

  • Yes, it's a one-of-a-kind piece. Our artisans weave from memory according to orally transmitted traditions — they don't follow a fixed pattern. The patterns, spacing, and small irregularities are unique to each weaver. You will never find two identical rugs, even if made by the same person.
  • Yes, absolutely. Each Azlif rug is entirely hand-woven by a Moroccan Berber artisan on a traditional loom. The process takes between 3 and 5 weeks of meticulous work — each knot is made one by one, which guarantees the authenticity and exceptional quality of the piece.
  • The dimensions given are approximate, with a variation of ±5 to 10 cm. As each rug is hand-woven without machinery, slight differences are normal and are part of its artisanal charm. The fringes add approximately 5 to 8 cm to each side and are not included in the main measurements.
  • No, not if you avoid direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight. The natural shades of Berber wool are particularly stable over time. To preserve the colors, we recommend not placing the rug directly under a window that is exposed to the sun all day long.
  • Yes, this is completely normal for the first few weeks. Natural wool sheds short fibers remaining from the weaving process. This phenomenon gradually decreases after a few weeks of use. Simply vacuum regularly—it's a sign of an authentic natural wool rug.
